Living by the motto “Live, let live and help others to live,” Minister Melford Nicholas is a true servant to the people of St. John’s City East.
Minister Nicholas has served his country and constituency. Through his ministerial work, he started the digital transformation of government, transformed the public broadcasting system, he’s digitally transforming the public school system and he facilitated the reinvigoration of the APUA telecoms division.
In his constituency, Minister Nicholas has rebuilt the culvert & drains, lighted the PMS playing field, repaired and resurfaced 80% of the roads in City East, assisted with scholarship grants and assisted over 120 persons with jobs or contract employment.
Minister Nicholas has more plans for his constituency. This includes entrepreneurial development, improving infrastructure projects, improving the housing stock in the community, providing more lands to constituents and assisting constituents with jobs.
Minster Nicholas came to office in 2014 as a 25-year veteran in the Telecoms Industry.
During his time in the private sector he fulfilled several key roles in telephone switching, IT operations, quality management, sales, business development and operations management. These experiences have properly equipped him in his dual roles as a representative and as a minister.
Minister Nicholas is married to Sincere and is the parent of two grown children. He is a practicing Anglican and lives by the Bible Verse “Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.” (Matthew 5:13)
In his spare time, he enjoys playing cricket, playing chess and studying ancient history.
