Living by the mottos “Speaking Truth to Power” and “Empowerment of the Masses,” Lennox Weston is our champion for St. Phillip’s South. He has ably served as member of Parliament for the area since 2018.
Minister Weston earned a first degree in Business Management and Master’s in Economics from UWI Mona and Colorado State University. He also has post graduate training in Finance and Public Sector Management from University of Hartford and University of Minnesota. Weston is a Hubert Humphrey Fellow with International experience working at the World Bank and USDA ERS early in his career as an economist.
As a public servant he served over 20 years in the Antigua Barbuda Civil Service serving in various positions Economist, Permanent Secretary of Agriculture, Financial Secretary and Director of Planning. Minister Weston also worked as a private consultant in Project Development, Business Management, Finance Environmental Development and Resource Economics. Minister Weston served on several Boards of Governors including the IMF, World Bank, Caribbean Development Bank, OECS, Eastern Caribbean Central Bank and Antigua Barbuda Development Bank. Weston is a former President of the Antigua Football Association and Manager and Coach of Premier League football team in Antigua.
He also created and hosted popular radio programme Uncut for ten (10) years. Minister Weston served in the Senate of Antigua for fourteen (14) years serving as Leader of Government Business for five (5) years. He has served as Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance for ten (10) years and Ministry of Works for five (5) years.
During his tenure as a Minister of Government, Minister Weston based his contribution on an empowerment of the people agenda focusing on the provision of employment, land, housing, transportation, education, healthcare, community infrastructure development; in terms of roads keeping the community clean and build educational institutions and sporting development.
In his constituency he has an ongoing Employment Agency Program helping constituents to find work in private and public sector, secure land and housing, advance in their educational status, reconstructing educational buildings and sporting facilities, Sporting team sponsorships, children back to school, graduation gifts program, a postnatal baby support program and supplies for clinics, home care as well as Doctor home visits.
His plans for the constituency include; bringing hotel development, developing housing, further developing agriculture, improving lighting and providing more reliable water to residents. Minister Weston will also focus on intensive skill training and graduate educational programs and develop the small business and entrepreneurial training and business development. The constituency will also focus on becoming a rural center for sporting activities and development of sporting professionals.
Minister Weston is married to Marva Ann Weston and has five (5) children. He attends the Parham Methodist Church.
In his spare time, he enjoys sports, writing calypsos, swimming, reading, cooking and watching action movies.
Weston has six (6) sisters, three (3) brothers, his mother was a house wife his father a fisherman and farmer.
